Inspired by a real-life conflict and a passage from Homer’s Odyssey
Odeta, a girl with visual impairments, wears glasses and a patch. Despite the discomfort, she plays pirates, but a classmate bothers her. Escaping in a cardboard box, she travels to an imaginary world where she meets a cyclops who helps her discover how to be a good monster. The play explores bullying and exclusion for being different, and Odeta learns to face her fears in order to return stronger to the real world.
